This past Saturday, members of the Climax Rotary Club spent their morning helping with cleanup and resetting of headstones at Prairie Home Cemetary. Some members used power washers to knock away years of dirt, growth and debris while others went hands-on with scrubber brushes and good, old fashioned elbow grease. Resetting of headstones involved shoveling away enough ground to make the move and then teams of members using ropes, other tools and a whole lot of OOMPH to reset some significant shifts in the grave markers.
“We have a great history in our community and some of the headstones in our local cemetery have been there since the late 1800’s and early 1900’s. Some headstones need cleaning or have settled and require straightening. Our local Climax Rotary Club is honored to be able to clean and straighten headstones as one of our club projects. We’ve done this a number of times in previous years and hope to continue this project every year. Thank you for those who participated and for the continued support we receive from our community,” stated Robert Scherer, Climax Rotary Club President.
Rotarians doing their part Saturday included President Scherer, Rob Perrin, John Cunningham, Mark Sinclair, Gary Hayward, TJ Gibson, Kevin Harvey, Kelly Leach, Danny Roe, Bill Smith and Climax-Scotts Student, Miles Scherer.
