At the January 10, 2024 Climax Township Board meeting, longtime Township Clerk, Marcia Lewis, announced she was retiring at the conclusion of her elected term. This will conclude a sixteen year tenure as the elected Township Clerk with Township service dating back even further.
Marcia's formal service to Climax Township began in November 2004. Marcia served as Deputy Clerk under Scott Torrance until April 2007 when she was appointed Township Clerk. She was later formally elected and served from 2008 to present. Marcia's elected term expires November 20 this year.
When asked what was the best part of her service in the role over the years, Marcia told CSDN, "More than anything else, it is a great way to learn more about your community."
After dutifully fulfilling her elected role (and well beyond!) for many years, Marcia looks forward to retirement with her husband, Bill, as he will also be vacating the role of Deputy Clerk.
Climax Township Treasurer Steve Walman told CSDN, "Climax Township was blessed to have Marcia Lewis as Township Clerk for so many years. She is one the most professional persons I have worked with. Her attention to detail, her kindness towards citizens, her quality of work is second to none! She will me missed!!!"
It is difficult to imagine walking into Climax Township Hall and not being greeted by Marcia and having access to her subject matter expertise. Alas, the time has come for someone new to serve the people of Climax. Parties interested in running on this year's ballot for Township Clerk can get complete information at Climax Township Hall. We will also be sharing details in another article this week right here on climaxscottsdigitalnetwork.com and our mobile app.
Many thanks to Marcia Lewis for her years of hard work and service, actively doing her part to make Climax, Michigan simply one of the best places on Earth to live.
All the best to Marcia and Bill as they enter retirement!
