A brand new High School Journalism Class is up and running with exciting projects on the horizon! Climax-Scotts English Teacher Jennifer Wright’s latest idea on how to better connect the Climax-Scotts Community and its students has finally been realized in this new, educational endeavor. With additional help of C-S Communications & Public Relations Director Heather Wechsler and Kevin Harvey from Climax-Scotts Digital Network, students have begun researching and understanding Blogs, Podcasts and even Press Releases. (In fact, this very press release is culmination of a joint effort of the students in class!)
How can we make our own Blogs and Podcasts? How can they be used to connect our community? Students ranging from Sophomores to Seniors are learning how these questions can be answered. Students are beginning to gain understanding of what makes a podcast - schedules, topics, resources needed to sustain and more.
Journalism Class is student-led, so this almost all stems from student engagement.
The students' projects for the remainder of the school year will have reach far beyond the four walls of the classroom. The students' works will be made available through all CSDN's distribution channels, including website, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Amazon Podcasts, Google Podcasts and more.
Ms. Wright stated, "Our students have a lot to say. Now they have an outlet to do just that. I am excited to see what content they decide to create."
"This has been an amazing way to give back to the community that gave so much to me when I was in this age group. I cannot overstate how much of my success in life starts with my education at Climax-Scotts," added Harvey.
Current events hint at student-produced Blogs and Podcasts being up and running as early as mid-November with bi-weekly releases on the Climax-Scotts Digital Network.
