After an information packed first two weeks in the collaboration between Ms. Jennifer Wright's C-S High School Journalism Class and Climax-Scotts Digital Network, students are nearly ready to begin writing their Blogs and recording their Podcasts. As projects are completed, students' works will be shared with the community right here on climaxscottsdigitalnetwork.com as well as all CSDN's audio outlets, including Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Amazon Podcasts, Google Podcasts and more.
Week 1 focused on getting students familiar with elements of pre-production, learning there is a great deal more to creating compelling content than simply sitting down and beginning to write or hitting a record button. Pre-production centered around such items as narrowing content topics, obtaining necessary equipment, scheduling, research, determining settings for interviews, obtaining host services where their host content will be published, defining who their target audience will be and more.
Week 2 moved onto discussing production and how one starts to put the pieces into place for a final product. Much of Week 2 was devoted to getting students familiar with the functionality of the school's new Podcasting equipment and how to use it to record a quality audio product. Whether Blogging or Podcasting, students are all learning to use the audio production equipment in the interest of being able to help one another as personal projects begin to take shape.
Ms. Wright has begun validating the students' knowledge in the use of the equipment. Thus far, their retention of information regarding new, complex equipment they've never seen before this week has been very impressive!
As the group moves onward to Week 3, it is expected students will formally begin production on their own Blogs and Podcasts this week!
